To say thankyou to my amazing readers (and also just because I thought it would be fun) I’m running this challenge!

The challenge is to write a missing scene from We Met Under An Umbrella! As I know that most of my readers are writers too, I thought this would be a really fun competition. So basically, take a scene from a point in Umbrella of your choice and write it!

Rules:

1.     Your scene needs to be 500-1000 words long, around that length.

2.   The scene can only be from one character’s point of view – no swapping part way through.

3.       It can be from any character in the story’s point of view that you want, but they must be an existing character – no writing yourself into the story please! Make sure you write ‘Character’s POV’ at the beginning so I know.

4.       The scene can be at any point in the story that you like, it could take place before chapter 1 starts, during the chapters I’ve written or after the last chapter I’ve posted.

5.       Obviously, there are subplots that I haven’t revealed the ending of yet so if you choose to write your scene after the chapters I’ve posted then it’s up to your imagination. If you’re Team Loudia then write from that perspective! Haha…

6.       You can either write a scene I’ve already written from a different character’s point of view (for example you could write the phone scene in Marbella from Lydia’s point of view) or a scene I haven’t written at all.

7.       I’d prefer the scene to be in first person to tie in with the rest of the story but it doesn’t have to be if that’s not the way you like to write.

8.       Pick a colour as the title and use it in the scene (it doesn’t matter if it’s a colour I’ve already used as a chapter title).

9.       Feel free to choose some lyrics to go at the start!

10.   It sounds obvious, but you have to have at least started reading We Met Under An Umbrella! Otherwise your scene probably won’t make very much sense…

The prizes:

1.       First prize is probably a main part in Playing Patchwork. (My new story if you don’t already know!) It’s a part that is written into the story but I haven’t named the character or worked her completely out yet. If, for some reason, I don’t do this, you will get the main part in a new one shot with the boy of your choice.

2.       The top three scenes will be compiled into a three part one shot and posted on my 1Dff author page and on my tumblr. Obviously the authors will be credited!

How to enter:

1.       Write your scene and upload it to 1Dff as you would with a normal story. 

2.       Make the title of the story the colour you have chosen as the title.

3.       Make the summary of the story ‘My entry to the We Met Under An Umbrella Missing Scene competition for 1Dstyle’. This needs to be the summary.

4.       In the story notes section, explain which point in the story your scene fits in and don’t forget to include your first name somewhere! Also, in case somebody just stumbles upon your scene, briefly explain that it’s a missing scene from my story. (ie the characters are mine etc..)

5.       Post the story as a response to this challenge!

6.       I will leave a review on the story letting you know I’ve received your entry.

The competition will run for the whole of August so there’s plenty of time then I will close the challenge in September and choose and announce the winners!
